Our History

The Mark of Excellence Pre-School & Academy was established in September 1998. It was housed in the location that formerly accommodated the Faith Day Care Center from January 1971 through April 1998. For 20 years the Faith Day Care Association provided a happy and healthy education for children. MEPSA is an entity of Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church.
The State of Connecticut licenses the day care. MEPSA is a private non-profit organization and depends on tuition and fundraising events sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Association.

Our Practices

It is believed that…

  • Every child is a gift from God with special abilities and talents
  • Every child is worthy of the best efforts from the teacher.
  • There is no one method applicable of effective for all students.
  • The student must consistently and regularly participate in the instructional process for success.
  • Encouragement, motivation and success are incentives. Criticism, failures and frustrations are deterrents.
  • The material selected, activities planned and evaluation of accomplishments should be undertaken to help each achieve his or her greatest potential.
  • All students belong to God. All things in the Academy are guided by the Holy Spirit in planning, implementing and carrying out realistic, relevant and rewarding experiences that will foster emotional, social, academic and faith growth in the students.
